Have been thinking all day about one of my learning's from solitude. While working through the Henri Nowen book The Way of the Heart I learned a bit more about being in continual prayer. Using passages of scripture to say throughout the day to stay in communication with the Lord. I have found this to be more difficult than I thought. My memory fails me multiple times through the day that I have to look up what I was supposedly praying! But then I am reminded that less is more and that short prayers are best...that the Lord knows my heart and all that is behind the few words that I say throughout the day.

This has been hard to grasp for me for I am not short of words :) It's almost like I think the Lord doesn't know all the meaning behind the few short words so I have to tell Him. Isn't that funny - I never would have thought that I would find it hard to believe and know that the Lord knows my heart - truly knows my heart. As one of my learnings during solitude I continue to work through it each day as I pray/communicate with the Lord throughout the day.
