I did it! I officially made it through the first semester of my doctoral program and tomorrow begins semester two. Knowing that I will be right back into homework after this next week, I wanted to reflect on the past semester and the difference it has made.
- I have taken more personal assessments then I knew existed
- Webinars and books have replaced television in how I unwind after work
- Lunches now involve reading the weeks research assignments
- Journaling is not only a spiritual discipline, but a way of documenting interactions with everyone I know
- I now read five to six books, every eight to ten weeks
- I have a favorite spot in the University of La Verne library
- I am a gold card member at Starbuck's
- I have a name for the type of social scientist I am
- I am a pro at using Blackboard, Adobe Acrobat Connect Pro Meeting, and Gmail
- I write in a passive voice and use "that" way to much
- I have lost 27 pounds in my attempt not to gain weight during this program
- I have a new understanding of how much my husband loves and supports me on a daily basis
- I learned that I have a deep well of friends who support and care about me
- I realized that the process of obtaining a doctoral degree is revealing deep learning, impacting my personal, professional, and spiritual journeys
- I believe God has placed me in this program, at this time, in order to do a work in me that I do not yet fully comprehend
