Writing a chapter - who me?
This past year I was asked to consider writing a chapter in a book with some amazing women leaders in the Council of Christian Colleges and Universities. I accepted the challenge even though I was uncertain I could accomplish the task.
Humbled, excited, and scared I arrived at the beautiful Cedar Springs and met my "chapter friends." We spent a few days writing, connecting, writing, encouraging, writing, inspiring, and writing again. As I sat and put fingers to computer I began to find words for my topic. I had spoken on the topic before, but it was dramatically different trying to capture my presentation in written form. The days were exciting and challenging, but I pushed through and completed a rough draft by the time we left Cedar Springs.
Returning home I jumped right back into both my daily and doctoral work. The weeks ahead were filled with completing assignments and getting everything done before heading to class for a solid week.
With my doctoral week behind me, I returned to my chapter to complete the missing pieces. Today I am done and ready to send for editing and feedback.
I decided to capture this in my blog so that I can remember the journey. I know there are a lot of revisions and changes ahead, but it is exciting to be at this stage. I honestly didn't know if I could do it! I suppose I still wonder if my chapter will make the "cut" which is another reason for the blog. No matter the outcome, the experience has been amazing so far!
